Assignment 2- Knickerbocker

Assignment 2- Knickerbocker

For this assignment I focused on trying to learn basic aspects of unity to create what could be an establishing scene to a story. I experimented with different textures to add shading to the mountains and create a lake and stone path. I added assets like a medieval house, wooden bridge, and cart to add to this theme that my scene was taking place a long time ago. I liked that the scene left you wondering whether to head to the lake, the house, or the mountains because it would be good at establishing and hooking the viewer to wanting to know what each place held and what would happen next.

The hardest part about this assignment was not getting frustrated. I went to add in the controller and lost my scene. I spent about an hour floating in the skybox before I could figure out how to get back to my scene. I also found it difficult to adjust the default sizing of assets without stretching them well out of proportion. I added a controller and deleted the main camera, but couldn't figure out if I had a true character or not and how to properly move them. Lastly, exporting was something that I spent hours on and just couldn't figure out. I ended up dragging my basics folder into the network drive. These are all things that I think time and a lot of patience will allow me to grasp more easily.
