360 Video Project Proposal

360 Video Project Group: Oliva Arty, Josh Daghir, Sarah Knickerbocker, Samantha Koenig Our group would like to film part of a live show on CitrusTV for our 360 video project. We believe that 360 video would be an appropriate way to capture this environment. Specifically, we think that showing on-set anchors, camera-people filming, and other production people working behind the scenes would create a compelling experience that encourages the viewer to look around. My roommate is a producer for a sports show on CitrusTV, and has given our group permission...

Assignment 6 – Josh Daghir

In the complexities of crafting a visually compelling virtual world, it is easy to forget the importance of sound in creating a fully immersive experience. If virtual reality is meant to transport the user to a new world, then the more senses involved, the more complete the experience feels. Much like video, capturing sound for VR purposes is extremely different from traditional audio recording. How sound is captured in 3D space greatly impacts the polish of the final product. There are many tools to capture 3D sound. I find binaural...

Assignment 6 – Jennifer Li

Working with sound was a very enjoyable experience for me. I created a scene and tried to use sound to tell the story. Working with the assets I had from the unity store, I was able to create a grungy sewer scene and a dungeon. The story starts with the character waking up inside the sewer having no recollection of how he get there. From there he goes on to find a fire and eventually a trap.   I had my friend voice act for me to guide the player...

Assignment 6 – Kevin Zsitvay

Working with 3D sound caused me a ton of frustration in the beginning. However, after discovering the root of my problems (the default camera) it became a breeze. For my scene I had created a soccer shootout. As you approach the soccer ball in the distance, the sounds of a roaring stadium gets louder and louder and a group of crazy mixamo fans becomes visible. Once you reach the ball it heads towards goal and once it enters, the crowd (another sound) goes wild. The only issue I had besides the...

Assignment 6 – Prasanna Kulkarni

Update: Finally I got the sound and Mecanim animations work!! Thanks to the Lynda tutorial. This assignment was very straightforward. Adding sounds to a scene and making it 3D is intuitive in Unity and very easy. During this assignment I started working on my final project. My idea for the final project is finalized and I thought it would be good idea to start adding interactivity sounds in the project using this assignment. I wanted to start triggering animations and sounds using the mecanim component and script. But boy, it...

Assignment 6 — Caitlin Gillman

For some reason, when I tried adding sound to one of my older scenes, the scene wouldn't load for some reason. It said all of the assets were there, but they weren't showing up on the left. So I just ended up making a new scene. I put a bunch of animated lions around a watering hole and put "Circle of Life" from the film The Lion King. I added some sounds of the lions roaring into the scene to give it a little more life. Overall, this assignment was...

Assignment 6

The sounds assignment wasn't too taxing. I have been working on the same scene for a while and added the sound of a lake, a guy treading water and a girl laughing to the scene. I played a lot with the intensity of the sound and making it more 3D and more intuitive. I hope that for my final project i can fine tune my sound skills so the scene can feel as real as possible.

Assignment 6 – Paul Sarconi

Assignment 6 was one of the easier assignments for me to complete. I already had my scene ready, so all I had to do was put in a few sounds to make it work. I had one minor complication in that the camera has an audio output, and it takes all the sound and outputs it at once. So, when I gave the gorilla in my scene a howling noise, you could hear no matter where you were in the scene. To fix this, all I had to do was...

Assignment 6: Sound

Kristen Powers For this assignment I imported sounds into a scene I had previously made. I followed along in class and added 2 horse sounds to my horses in the scene, and then changed the sound to make it 3D. However, I can not really tell the difference. The sound still sounds like it is coming from everywhere. With headphones I could tell a little bit more that when I got closer the sound got louder and when I walked away it got quieter, but it still was not that...

Assignment 5 – Josh Daghir

Link to my scene in WebGL Capturing 3D objects in reality and translating them into virtual reality has been the most difficult assignment of this class yet. A combination of factors on both the user end and the software end make 3D capture hard to execute. My trouble first started with 123D Catch. The idea of being able to capture 3D models straight from your phone is compelling, but the software is simply not strong enough to create good models. I tried capturing objects in bright, even lighting, and usually...
