Assignment 6 – Jennifer Li


Working with sound was a very enjoyable experience for me. I created a scene and tried to use sound to tell the story. Working with the assets I had from the unity store, I was able to create a grungy sewer scene and a dungeon. The story starts with the character waking up inside the sewer having no recollection of how he get there. From there he goes on to find a fire and eventually a trap.

 

I had my friend voice act for me to guide the player through the scene. Eventually I want to have many decisions and choices that the player can make and the voice clips to accompany them. In the scene I was able to create I wanted to have the sound of the campfire be 3D and guide the player through the sewer, but it did not exactly work out as planned. I could not find where the sound was coming from to make it 3D. I think it was packaged in with the campfire prefab that I downloaded from the asset store. Since I could not find where it was coming from, I also could not get it to loop. :\ Other than that, I think that the combination of a VR experience with voice guidance can be a very powerful tool especially since it is hard to direct the player’s attention to a certain direction within VR.
