I was on video team one, so I had a lot of difficulty with this assignment. The funny thing is I somehow stumbled into making my project work. I downloaded a character from Mixamo, Douglas, at least four times but I couldn’t get one to work with the normal skin and outfit on. The fifth time it worked perfectly, albeit he was in zombie mode. After I fixed him up, I then made an army of Douglas’, each of whom danced to the animation “Thriller Part 3”.

After that, I went to the asset store and downloaded a character because I couldn’t be sure that Mixamo would work again. I then took this character, I’ll call him Dave, put him into my scene, and made an army of clones of him. After that I applied the “Thriller Part 3” animation to them and now my scene is essentially a dance off between 10 Douglas’ and 10 Dave’s.

I placed the controller in between the two armies so when you’re dropped in during VR, you’re right in the middle of the action. Oh, and this dance battle is taking place in a grassy valley between two snow covered mountains. It’s fairly epic. I can’t lie, I am pretty proud of it.

I will likely try importing a character from Mixamo again just to make sure I fully know how to do it, but for the purposes of completing this assignment I was able to do everything that was asked. Although I didn’t need to use them, but having tutorials is really helpful. This stuff seems really complicated when trying to remember the instructions from class and as a result it can be kind of stressful to keep trying stuff and having it fail. When there are tutorials it’s just a lot more comforting and I know, “Okay, if I do this. It should work.”
