VR Storytelling Final (Honestly, thank god it’s over)

Well, here we go.

My Unity project is the story of an alien or another celestial being learning about human life and culture through the study of their dances.  The character is First person and walks into a chamber that leads him to a sort of Museum of Dance. The character walks around experiencing the different dance fads of human times from twerking to the macarena.  This gives the character insight into how the human population of Earth expresses themselves and communicates.

I set out to show that Virtual Reality can be used beyond entertainment purposes but also for education.  I set to have an entertaining yet educational experience of human dance.  As I continued to work on this project I saw that my skills in Unity and PlayMaker were tested beyond belief.  I have come to realize I would've probably been better off doing a 360 video project instead.

Due to my lack of PlayMaker skills I had dial back a lot of my grandiose plans for interaction and movements.  I wanted different music to trigger on and off at certain exhibits and wanted the exhibits to really come to life as you came to them.  This project proved to be a true challenge.

I didn't use any video tutorials, besides the ones on the class blog.

***The hardrive on the computer is filled up apparently so I can't upload my experience to the computer. SORRY.

Ken Harper, you're an amazing professor and it's been an honor to have you expose me to new technologies and to think in a different way.  My mind has expanded to understand how things work visually.

My experience is pretty but I wish it would be functional with PlayMaker and viewable on the Oculus Rift.
