Final Project – Ariel Wang

In this class, I learned that virtual reality can be utilized in many different fields and areas of interests. Most importantly, VR is an empathy machine. This is why I decided to create a virtual reality experience on something that was always hard for me to explain to people who have never experienced it. In this case, it was men who don’t understand the pervasive nature of street harassment and catcalling. My final project simulates a woman walking through an urban neighborhood in the middle of the night. In this...

Own the Dome: Syracuse University Admitted Student Experience By Katie Conti, NEW 400 (VR Storytelling) Spring 2018 Youtube Link: https://youtu.be/gn35RwJzQAY I'm unsure if WordPress will support my VR embed, but I figure I would at least try. ---- What a semester it has been. I came into this course fascinated by the potential that VR storytelling has to impact my future career in international communications, and now I'm thinking: how can I get my future career in VR to also include international relations?! I've dealt with a learning curve, that's one...

Final Project and Independent Learning: Tania Joseph

"HBCUSE" -- A Black Celebration For my final project I wanted to highlight the different cultures that walk the campus of Syracuse University. This 360 video is made up of different spaces where people of color on campus have found their niche. I wanted to get a wide range of events, so I did multiple indoor and outdoor shoots. Due to my interest in storytelling, to tie everything together I started of with the historical context of  why Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) were created. Through this video people...

Final Project – Yeagee Jung

My final project was covering the Mr. Asia pageant put on by the Asian Students in America. It's an event hosted by the club that celebrates diversity and inclusion on campus. What drew my attention to this particular event was that there was a male pageant aspect of the event that I thought was really fun and unique. The event was first put in place last year, so this year marked the second time that it was put on, and I think it went really well! I was worried because...

Final Project – Ryan Kehr

For my final project, I made a scene in Unity of a Music Festival. You can travel throughout the festival to the different stages, the futuristic bar, beach and the ocean! I was having issues with checking out equipment at the cage and had to pivot my final project idea. I wanted to create this experience because music festivals are near and dear to my heart and have proved me with some of the best moments of my life. I really enjoyed using unity and I hope you enjoy my...

Final Project: Osung

Welcome to Pan-mun-jom. As the virtual experience begins, please pay attention to the picture in front of you. This project is building the 3d model of the real scene, and the image contains the actual scene which I tried to reconstruct. The tall building looking over the image is called the House of Freedom, a structure which locates on the northern verge of the South Korean border. Going through the building, you will find the boundary between South and North Korea. Panmunjom was a village just north of the de...

For my final project, I shot a series of videos in a Syracuse restaurant called "With Love", which aims to help refugees as well as people who need help in settling down. It's a connected program with Onondaga Community College. Students learn cooking as well as management. The menu changes every six month to a specific country's food. It has tried Pakistan and Burma.

Final Project – Shuran Huang

My final project is a 360 degree video of Collin's Barber & Beauty Shop located in Syracuse, New York. I have been working with this three-generation family for three months on a documentary photo project (https://www.shuran.photography/stills/) and a set of portraits for this family (https://www.shuran.photography/travel/). So when it comes to vr class's final project, I decided to produce a 360 video of how this family actually works in the barbershop and the impact this African American family has brought to the community.
