Bria Holness – Individual Learning Requirement

As my final project, I am in the process of shooting, stitching, and editing a 360 music interactive video, featuring Outlaws Dance Troupe, a student-run hip-hop dance group on SU's campus. In doing so, my partner, LaQuin Alexander, and I have had some issues with stitching and ghosting. Therefore, I decided to look up a few tutorials about how to handle the all those type of issues. Under each video, I wrote the specific notes from the respective videos, that proved to help with the issues we were having.

  • Want rms to be as low as 2
  • Optimize media
  • You can use template panorama to stitch through autopania giga
  • Parallax effect - Stitches being across the neck or across the body
    • To somewhat avoid this effect, the best way to mount the camera on the rig is vertical as opposed to horizontal so that you don’t run into problems

  • Press edit which takes you to Autopano giga. Open up the one frame that is proving to have ghosting issues. Then use the mask edition tool. The enable button and left preview button allow you to see all of the individual camera. Once there, add markers to open up the stitch a little more and hit check mark. Hit save and it’ll bring you back to autopano video.
  • Make sure you go exactly where the person is in both frames - both cameras

  • A camera only seeing blue sky or one color needs template stitching - use an image shot in an environment as close as the one that won’t stitch
  • Stitching several images with parallex, you have to match them at a safe distance - on the foreground, background
  • Adaptive stitching - how to get the best stitching with environment major changes
    • Ex. Camera moving from inside to outside - you can see that using the outside for stitching won’t be acceptable or vice versa - using one instance of the stitching is not an option
  • The lower the rms the better your stitching should be
  • Separate the timeline by the difference in the camera and environment changes - putting a small transition in between the two to make it flow better. Then you can have a different stitch for these different environment changes or when the camera changes angles

  • Content aware tool in photoshop can help get rid of being able to see the rig at the bottom of the video. However, there is also skybox studio that has the same effect.
