Assignment #5: Unity Scene

Assignment #5: Unity Scene

Here is the link to my unity scene:

Doing the scene was a great challenge for me, I did actually used 3-5 terrains for this scene as I didn't want to user to see the empty space where the terrain ends. In addition I had focused too much on the background landscape that I didn't have enough time to add more detail for each terrain. Trying to create the ruins of the village was a daunting task as I had to use a lot of place a lot of houses, and sometimes the rotation didn't work the way I intended. I did test with the fire animation, although it doesn't look like the way I intended to be, it still create a sense of the city being burned to the ground. I'd also played around with the smoke and the dust storms. Another difficulty that I had was the audio, which I struggled to use logarithmic audio for each sound. Sometimes you can hear a sound from a mile away even though I set it far way from the listener. Sometimes you can't hear it until you get very close to the audio source.

This scene was just set up to test out of the features of unity. The story behind it was that the city that the main character came from is being destroyed by an army and its up to the him to find the Temple of Whispers in the nearby Valley of Doom. The player is placed just after the bridge leading to the city has been destroyed forcing the him/her to see the city burn. The destroyed village that the player passes was suppose to be the haunted, a grim reminder of what happened several centuries ago. As the player enters the desert landscape they encountered several destroyed wagons further showing that there were previous attempts to enter the Way of Doom. The character hears a voice and is attracted by it. As he searches for it coming across ancient ruins until he sees the Temple of Whispers, and that's where the section of the story ends.
