Assignment 5: Behind the Scenes with the Syracuse Crunch

Assignment 5: Behind the Scenes with the Syracuse Crunch

My video takes the viewer behind the scenes at the War Memorial Arena on a game day. It begins in the team's office, where all of the Crunch employees arrive more than eight hours before the start of the game to prepare. This includes writing, printing and distributing game notes, making final ticket sales and organizing that night's promotions.

I elected to put together the piece in the style of a television news package. I used several shots from different parts of the arena and press box and put my voice over it. I also utilized the sound picked up by the microphone on the Samsung Gear 360 to create a more immersive experience.

I ran into two small problems while putting this together. The first is that the "VR Viewer" on Adobe Premier was not working. It showed my video as flat. This wasn't that big of a deal because the video was still produced in 360 degrees but it was a little inconvienent. Also, when I imported my VO Track, Premiere scrambled it so my words were all out of order. I deleted it and reimported it and it worked, but I had never run into that problem before with Premiere.

Below is my voice over script.

Syracuse Crunch game day begins more than 8 hours before puck drop, here in the War Memorial Arena…

This preparation culminates in a radio broadcast… Done on this day by Syracuse University junior Evan Stockton…

Between periods is the perfect time for the staff to catch their breath but only for a brief moment…

The Crunch are about to take the ice and score again…
