Assignment 4: Marisa Joachim

Assignment 4: Marisa Joachim

This assignment was definitely a challenge. In my head, the scene seemed more intense and creating it was easier to do. First, I wanted to create a winter wonderland, however I found the assets available in the Asset Store to me did not allow for that to happen. Then, I figured I would switch seasons and create a beach scene.

The sand and textures felt more natural. The palm trees and grass shrubbery were exciting to add. In addition, the free floating fish and animated whales added character to the scene. I tried to get creative and add more coral and mushrooms to the sand, however again the options seemed limited. I was thrilled to find the treasure chest and dock objects. The shells were fun features to rotate and place in various places, as well.

I tried some new things as well. In fact, it took an incredibly long time to get the water to feel realistic. I had to place it on the y-axis in the most meticulous place. The scaling of all the objects was imperative as well.

I enjoyed playing with various aspects of the Asset Store, the websites provided, and sounds too. However, I saved the file in an incorrect fashion and could not proceed. I wish I could have added in a deserted house, a person, a shipwrecked boat, etc.

I also did not realize how big the terrain is. I would like to expand my scene and add in other objects. I look to continue this project, and explore more. It was fun to do! As a perfectionist, I like the endless options and know there is more to learn and more to add. Learning Unity was half the battle. Now that I am more familiar with it, I hope to expand my horizons and take more risks.
