Assignment 2 – Groh

Assignment 2 – Groh

My story idea is to put a 360 camera in the CitrusTV News room. I want to give a complete and immersive experience of what it's like to put together a 30-minute news broadcast. The video would start in the main room of CitrusTV where the majority of the writing for the show is done. I would like to have someone explaining what is going on, possibly the EP of that day's show. They would tell the viewer what they are seeing while also giving a disclaimer to "look around". After about a minute of that, the viewer is then transported to the physical newsroom. There the viewer would watch a live news broadcast. In view would be the anchors, the camera crew, floor director, weather person and anyone else inside the newsroom. Afterwards, the viewer is transported to the audio room for a quick 15-second video. A small description of what happens in the audio room is given. Finally, the last shot is of the control room where the technical side of news happens. The viewer would be able to hear what the director and TD are saying to each other and the other team members in order to put on a 30-minute broadcast.

I like this idea because it offers the classic "behind the scenes" look into something that so many people only know one portion of. Rarely do people see the camera crew, the producers or the directors of a show. It adds context and gravity to what it takes to put on a news show.

I'm the assignment editor, news reporter, and soccer beat reporter for CitrusTV, so I don't imagine any difficulty being able to film there.
