Independent Learning: Kristen Powers

Kristen Powers Independent Learning Requirement: Unity Tutorial Throughout the semester I have been referring to Lynda.com and Youtube to help me with my Unity projects and to try to trouble shoot things that don't work. I completed the Unity 5: 3D Essential Training that you posted on to blackboard. It was for the most part helpful, but I actually found sometimes it went more in detail that I actually needed and it tended to confuse me a bit more. However, it was a great way to get to know the...

Assignment 6: Sound

Kristen Powers For this assignment I imported sounds into a scene I had previously made. I followed along in class and added 2 horse sounds to my horses in the scene, and then changed the sound to make it 3D. However, I can not really tell the difference. The sound still sounds like it is coming from everywhere. With headphones I could tell a little bit more that when I got closer the sound got louder and when I walked away it got quieter, but it still was not that...

Assignment 5: 3D Models and Scanning

By: Kristen Powers With this assignment I discovered that I am really good at scanning people with the iPad. During Wednesday's class I scanned Eric and I was really impressed with how it turned out so I decided to incorporate him into my scene. I did not have too much trouble bringing him into my scene, but I did find that the texture was not as solid as it appeared when on the scanner. I could not figure out how to make it so that he was completely solid. I...

Assignment 4: Working With Characters

By: Kristen Powers I was pretty excited when I came into your office hours and we figured out how to make my zombie walk in the right direction. I still can improve on playmaker, but with this assignment I felt like I actually understood it. I helped to map out what I wanted to happen, and then just take it step my step. I was able to add in a Mixamo character, and have the animation play automatically. When I downloaded it the character was zombie like, but I was...

Assignment 3: Interactive Scene

Kristen Powers This project was a struggle for me, as I could not get my character to animate correctly. It did animate, but it is not exactly how in envisioned it. I will continue to work with it, but I am turning it in knowing it needs improvement because I took many stabs at trying to fix it, but could not seem to get it right. I did learn new tools and started to understand Playmaker a little more, but I am still having a hard time wrapping my head...

Assignment 2 – First VR Scene

By: Kristen Powers Dear Unity,  It's a love/hate relationship. I can not wait to get to know you more, but the first time we met I could tell you were going to be a bit difficult. However, we managed to make this first one work, so cheers to more.  That is basically how I feel after completing this first assignment. I can't say it is a masterpiece, but I am pretty happy that I managed to add the requirements. I also had some fun messing with the terrain and testing out...

Assignment 1 – VR Experience

Virtual Reality Experience Kristen Powers Virtual Reality is a new concept to me, but after joining this class I feel like I hear about it everywhere I turn. This emerging technology has an exciting future, so I am thrilled to learn how to use VR early on in the game. Not only is it a great way to tell stories, but it is a blast to experience! Every story that I entered into left me smiling ear to ear, or with my mouth hanging open in amazement. My group got in...
