Independent Learning: Kevin Zsitvay

For my final project, I had to learn about Movie Textures. Movie Textures are very similar to normal textures. However, the texture is a video file that you can just simply drag on to an object such as a cube. This sounds easy and all, but it wasn't. I had pulled videos that I wanted to use in my Unity scene, 6 of them. All of the videos were ranging in size and quality. First attempt at dragging one of the videos into my assets, Unity crashed. The second attempt,...

Assignment 6 – Kevin Zsitvay

Working with 3D sound caused me a ton of frustration in the beginning. However, after discovering the root of my problems (the default camera) it became a breeze. For my scene I had created a soccer shootout. As you approach the soccer ball in the distance, the sounds of a roaring stadium gets louder and louder and a group of crazy mixamo fans becomes visible. Once you reach the ball it heads towards goal and once it enters, the crowd (another sound) goes wild. The only issue I had besides the...

Assignment 4 – Kevin Zsitvay

Working with Mixamo was very fun! Overall I spent way too much time browsing through the different animations it had to offer. The fun then ended (not entirely though) when trying to use Mixamo characters within playmaker. My goal for the assignment was to make just a simple triggered scene. The idea was to have my first Mixamo character approach the other and then headbutt the other. After being headbutted, the second Mixamo character would then fall flat. After a lot of tinkering and frustration, I got it to work...

Assignment 3 – Kevin Zsitvay

Working with playmaker for the first time was a fun yet frustrating experience. Making the treasure box open and close was very easy to me, but once I started messing around with  I Tween, thats when it started getting complicated. The most difficult part for me was working with the transitions, making sure the animations and movements happened at the right times. I kept running into the issue of Playmaker skipping over states and ruining the whole scene. So after spending a few hours fiddling with the editor, I had...

Assignment 2 – Zsitvay

Using Unity for the first time was a great experience. The ability to create a world in seconds and then being able to jump right in it was what really impressed me the most. At first, the interface took a little time to get used to, but after some practice it became familiar. I have used 3D software before (Cinema 4D), but I found Unity to be very different. Most of the time I was trying to get better with the various terrain tools. My goal was to create realistic...

Assignment 1 – Kevin Zsitvay

Class in the innovation lab was the first time I had fully experienced virtual reality. My group was assigned to the Google Cardboard first. Not expecting much from an inexpensive kit, I ended up being very impressed. For just an app on a smart phone, the Trayvon Martin experience was more detailed and well put together than I would have thought. Having said that however, I never felt the full “I was there” sensation with the Google Cardboard, but I certainly felt more than if I was watching something on...
