Assignment 4: Johnny Cho

Assignment 4: Johnny Cho

Since our team (Cameron, Michael, Dylan, Johnny, Charles) is organized, we have changed the topic a lot: (1) football game --> (2) Dancing team -->  (3) Campus tour. Even though we had lots of trial and errors to finish the project, I was always happy to enjoy every moment because this is how we learn the 360-degree camera. Here is what our journey is all about.

(1) Football game

There was not football game within the project duration, so we cannot make a film from the football game. IT didn’t work!

(2) Dancing team #1

We took the film in the Syracuse’s Ensley Athletic Center. In this time, I was in charge of renting a 360 gear. I thought the battery was all just in fully charged, but when we opened it up the center before we shoot the camera. Some of the cameras had the low battery (almost die). so, we charged in hurry. After 10 minutes, there was another problem. Some of the cameras are not working for wifi, so we pushed the record button by manually. After we captured the wonderful dance movement, we went to the editing room. Holy Cow! One of camera played so fast and seemed weird, so we eliminated it. Also, we did the clapping three times with different people. Thus, I used the premier to cut it off the first and second clapping parts and did the stitching. However, it looked not good so IT didn’t work!

(3) Dancing team #2

We decided not to use the first video we just created from Syracuse’s Ensley Athletic Center. Then, we rescheduled the dancing team’s practice and went to Carrier Dome to take a film. In this time, we prepared everything well and finished the shooting perfectly. However, when I started to stitch the 6 videos, it turned really weird because how the Autopen works is that they just recognized the certain pattern and link each video. Unfortunately, we shoot it right on the ‘S’ mark, so it couldn’t recognize the similarity which one is upper and lower one. It was all just mixed. We tried to fix it, but IT didn’t work!

(4) Campus Tour

We decided to restart the whole things again. We did not want to have same problems we had before. Thus, at this time, be more carefully making a scenario and selecting the recording place. From the lessons in the previous experiences, we had the concrete plan (where we are going to shoot, how far from the camera to the object, etc.) and checked the battery, wifi, clicker (instead of clapping). In this time, IT perfectly works!

In the team, my role was conceptualization for taking the videos, shooting the camera, and stitching the video. I learned how to improve the error of cracking down the video. Also, Dylan and Charlie did the guide voice recording with a wonderful voice. Michael made the beautiful Nadir. He brought up with six different versions and made a choice for us. Finally, Cameron, so thank you for your efforts on the Premier work and transition. The final video looks better than the original version. Here is our work. Please, enjoy it.
