Assignment 1- MaryMargaret Treinin

I have always been fascinated by Virtual Reality. I think it is due to the fact that one can "escape" the real world, without actually leaving his or her seat. I am pleased that VR and its fans, are growing rapidly. That being said, during the first exercise, I was absolutely excited to try on another head set. Most importantly, I could not wait to experience the VR video that was placed in front of me. As I watched the space adventure that was placed in front of me, once again I was amazed.

The device had taken me to another world and for once in my life, I was okay with it. The graphics were set at a high quality and the overall atmosphere was alluring. I was also highly impressed by the sound quality, especially with the 3D sound quality. The audio had the right amount of bass and did not sound distorted or "scratchy". I was also glad that everything was wireless. In most cases, having wires connected can sometimes lead to a limited amount of motion and access. As I observed my fellow peers, I could not help but to smiled at their "oohs and aahs".

During this excercise, I also had the chance to view the "Lord Of The Rings" VR. As a huge LOTR fan, I was absolutely intrigued by this experience. As I sailed down the great river, I could not help it but be "one" with the environment and my surroundings. The experience was beyond crisp and extremely captivating. I think the best part about this experience was turning my head from side to side and around. As I continued to float down the river, I noticed that several technical factors, helped contribute to the overall adventure. I found the overall head tracking to be quite smooth and did not make me nauseous. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and cannot wait to try it again.
