Independent Learning – Olivia Arty

For my independent learning, I watched the Lynda tutorial on Unity Essentials and WOW was it helpful. In this tutorial you learnt everything from, starting a project to adding animation to baking lighting. I really regret waiting so long to do it because I could have fine tuned my skills by leaps and bounds if I had done this earlier on in the semester. Nonetheless, I focused primarily on the designing and constructing the game level section because it went over the nitty gritty of terrain design. I applied my...

VR Reflection

I don't even know where to begin. Before Wednesday's class, my exposure to VR was minimal. I had maybe played with the immersive technology two times beforehand. So, when I found out we'd be spending a whole class playing for VR, I felt like a little kid before Christmas. And, I wasn't disappointed. Experiences that worked well for me were the spherical ones of nature. For instance, the very first experience my group and I tried was one of the NASA space station. We were “literally” taken to space. It...

Final Project

The final project was the most challenging assignment of the semester – as it should be. One of my greatest challenges for this assignment was conceptualizing a VR experience that I was passionate about and tied in with my advertising major. Initially, because of my love for fashion and retail, I wanted to create a VR shopping experience. However, after trying and failing and trying and failing, I scrapped the idea because I found I just didn’t have the skill set actually to create an interactive VR experience. Knowing that...

Assignment 6

The sounds assignment wasn't too taxing. I have been working on the same scene for a while and added the sound of a lake, a guy treading water and a girl laughing to the scene. I played a lot with the intensity of the sound and making it more 3D and more intuitive. I hope that for my final project i can fine tune my sound skills so the scene can feel as real as possible.

Assignment 5

http://vrstorytelling.org/projects/assignment5/OliviaArtyAssignment5/Beach_Assignmen_5/index.html Everything seemed to go pretty smoothly for this assignment unitl now. I had no problem dowloading my 3D scan, sounds and creating a scene in Unity. Nor did I have problem exporting my scene as a Web GL as it plays perfectly well locally. However, uploading the WebGL into the FTP was a little confusing...

Assignment 2 – Olivia Arty

Unity and I are going to be the best of all friendemies. It is really amazing to be able to creative a virtual scene, however it's extremely intricate. More precisely, you need to be make sure to be very detailed because if not then your scene won't make sense or look good. The biggest issue I hadbesides trying to make everythign as realistic as possible was trying to add water... I don't know why but it always comes out very strange when I do it.
