Kyle Slyva’s Final VR Project

When I set out to do this final project, I will say that my goal was a little ambitious. My plan was to on create a scene in Unity where the user gets onto a virtual reality motorcycle and rides it through a city with with traffic to simulate a real motorcycle experience. I wanted the user to be able to use the Oculus Rift and grab onto the virtual handlebar and use it in the same manner that it would be used in real life (like using the throttle...

Kyle Slyva’s Assignment 6: Mixamo and Playmaker Animation

I set up a scene with two characters (Arissa and Harold) who are unfortunately the only two inhabitants in a small mountain-top village. Harold keeps trying to find ways to get Arissa to like him, but for some strange reason, Arissa just doesn't find Harold attractive. In this scene, Harold is trying the "sneak up slowly with a big smile" technique. Lets see if it works out for him. Unity Setup: I have two platforms which act as the main triggers for Harold. The first platform stops the idle animation...

Kyle Slyva’s Assignment 5: Unity Animation

For this assignment, I reused the scene from the previous assignment and added some animations to the existing objects. Most of the objects that I use as triggers have a hidden mesh which makes the experience feel more game-like. I have 3 main animations in the scene.  The first is at the beginning of the dock which uses an Itween move to and brings the rowboat to the front of the dock. Once the player moves onto the boat it activates the second trigger. This does the same as the one...

Kyle Slyva Assignment 4: First Unity Experience

This was only the second time I had worked with unity so I am definitely still a beginner, but I do find the interface a lot less challenging than I expected. I do have a bit of experience working with 3D software which might have helped by already being familiar with the these types of interfaces. Everything that I tried in this attempt went relatively smoothly. The tree and grass creator tool was very straightforward and definitely helped speed up the creation of a more realistic scene. The most difficult part...

Animal Shelter 360 Video

My idea is to create a 360 video experience of a local animal shelter. The main idea behind this video is to create empathy and make the users feel like they are interacting with these different animals. Before I went to an animal shelter, I had a somewhat negative outlook towards them. I had thought they were locations to house stray animals or vicious pets (kind of like a jail for bad pets). Once I visited a shelter and learned more about the pets in it, my viewpoint completely shifted....

My first VR Experience

Wednesdays class was the first time I had ever experienced VR headsets, so I was literally going in with fresh eyes. I began with Tilt Brush while using the Oculus Rift headset. The program itself was very intuitive and I was able to get the hang of all of the controls fairly quick. Once I began drawing in 3D space and being able to move around my floating sketches, I definitely started to feel like I was actually in the space. The movements were synced up perfectly and the resolution was...
