Although this was not my first experience with virtual reality, it was my first time using the Oculus Rift. I thought it was interesting getting to try out the Oculus First Contact demo and see how the controls compared to those of other virtual reality devices I have used previously. In my opinion, the controllers for the HTC Vive are better suited for an experience where you can't see the controller. I also got to try the Gear VR and found that to be a great way to experience 360 video.

Some story telling techniques that I picked up on included the way that you were able to walk around the house of Van Gogh and how the entire house looked like the paintings that he made. In addition, the robot from the Oculus demo was able to easily convey what to do within the application without even having to speak. I felt that each scene had its own feel to it and each time you put on the headset you were walking into a different world. I felt present in the demo with the Oculus but not in the Gear VR demo. The reason for this is because it was connected to the computer rather than a phone. I didn't feel any nausea with any of the experiences.
